Technical information

  • Care and maintenance

    • Cleaning: We recommend cleaning with a damp (with water) cotton cloth.

    • Scratch Removal: Minor scratches can be easily removed using polywatch and a clean dry cotton cloth.

      • Deeper scratches can be removed by wet sanding with incrementally finer sandpaper from 1000 to 2000 grit before moving to polywatch.

    • Avoid cleaning products that contain alcohol, ammonia, aromatics, and other abrasives. Alcohol can cause cracks and microfractures in the surface of the acrylics. Ammonia can eat into the surface of acrylic and leave it looking cloudy. Using proper cleaning procedures outlined above will assure optimal performance, clarity and longevity of your crystal.

  • Installation

Installation should only be carried out by professional watchmakers experienced in servicing vintage Rolex.

    For Watchmakers:

    • In order to obtain proper tension of retaining ring over crystal, use of Rolex no. 1006 or Fercal tool should be used.

    • We recommend using light application of silicone grease on the inside of retaining ring wall to assure smooth depression over crystal and optimal sealing.

    • The D22 will require retaining ring compression particularly if replacing a service/later T22 variant.

    • The D39 is purposefully designed to fit tighter over the rehaut. A crystal press may be used to assure full depression prior to retaining ring install.
